October is the start of celebration season – Halloween is upon us, Christmas movie marathons are in the offing and the Hollywood strikes are finally winding down, which means production will crank back up and original content will soon be back.

Even with production halted for the past five months, there's plenty to watch in the coming month. Max's absurd pirate comedy Our Flag Means Death returns for season two, as does Disney Plus' superhero sci-fi mish-mash Loki.

Frasier is getting a reboot on Paramount Plus, while Rick and Morty returns to Adult Swim for its seventh season. Apple TV Plus is premiering Lessons in Chemistry, based on the best selling novel and starring Brie Larson.

HBO closes out the month with the return of period drama The Gilded Age, starring Carrie Coons and Christine Baranski.

October is also the time for scary fare. Services such as AMC Networks, Disney Plus, Freeform and Hulu are delivering it in spades with marathons, fan-favorite movies and originals, such as Hulu's The Mill and Disney Plus' Goosebumps.
