“This is a tale of horror and wonder, of innocence and beauty. Violence and sin. This story would haunt the island for years to come. It forever changed a fact: that young girls were the ones we were supposed to protect, not be protected from,” narrates Riley Keough, playing author Rebecca Godfrey in Hulu’s limited series, Under the Bridge, based on the late Godfrey’s 2005 book.
The book is about the 1997 true story of the murder of fourteen-year-old Reena Virk (Vritika Gupta) who went to a party and never came home. Godfrey begins researching the event, joining up with a local police officer, played by Academy Award-nominee Lily Gladstone. Together, they unearth a hidden world of “Bic” girls and bullies and things no one ever expects kids to do.
