The Global Entertainment Marketing Academy of Arts & Sciences (G.E.M.A.) on Thursday announced its “Of The Year” finalists in its 2024 TV/Streaming Europe competition. Gold and silver winners will be revealed at an in-person ceremony at Amsterdam’s Yellow House on June 5.

Shortlisted for Creative Marketing Team of the Year are BBC Studios Creative, Netflix, Paramount Creative MTVE Europe, Sky Creative, The Walt Disney Company Europe & Africa and four-time consecutive winner TV 2 Denmark.

Finalists for European Agency of the Year are Poland’s Bednarski.co, Spain’s Cirugia Grafica, England’s Make It Social, Scandinavia’s New Land, Spain’s Tricefalo Studio and global agency Zealot. Tricefalo won this award in 2022, while Denmark’s Holy Ravioli was named agency of the year in 2023.
Bednarski, led by designer and animator Krzysztof Bednarski, worked on Paramount’s “Icons of Cinema” spot, which is a finalist in the categories of brand spot, brand image campaign, motion graphics and 360 campaign: brand image.
Cirugía Gráfica created the stop-motion animation for Paramount Network’s “The Mountain is the Star” idents package, which is nominated in the categories of motion graphics, bumpers and interstitials and out-of-house idents.
Make It Social worked on the final seasons of two of Netflix’s most popular series, The Crown and Sex Education. For the sixth and final season of The Crown, the London-based agency created a series recap that is nominated in the category of long-form spot. Make It Social also scored nominations for drama campaign for The Crown’s “Royal Progress” and social media video for Sex Education’s “DIY Diaries.”
Stockholm, Copenhagen and London-based New Land works as a close partner to TV 2 Denmark, and thus contributed to nominations across a raft of categories, including brand image campaign and programme spot. Finalists from both categories are featured below.
Likewise, Madrid’s Tricefalo is a frequent collaborator of Paramount Network Spain and together the duo are finalists across five categories, including something for nothing, editing, clips-based spot, visual effects and sound design.

Finally, New York, Los Angeles and London-based Zealot, which marks its fourth consecutive year as an “of the year” finalist, is nominated in three categories: programme trailer, music with lyrics and comedy spot.
The official teaser and trailer for season four of Sex Education are both finalists in the categories of programme trailer and comedy spot,
while the official trailer for Netflix’s Robbie Williams and another official trailer for season four of Sex Education is a finalist in music with lyrics.
Two rounds of judging were held to determine the winners of the 2024 GEMAwards TV/Streaming Europe competition. The first round, which determines the finalists, was conducted online and included a diverse line-up of industry judges from the entertainment marketing industry. Each entry was evaluated and scored based on overall creativity, originality of concept and message effectiveness. Finalists then advanced to the final round for jury consideration. This year, a jury of industry professionals met in Amsterdam to deliberate over the finalist entries and decide the gold and silver winners.

Once winners are finalized and confirmed by G.E.M.A.’s awards team, each winning entry is assigned points, with gold winners earning three points and silver two points. The Creative Marketing Team and Agency of the Year winners are decided by the final points tally.
