The iconic plaid couch that sat at the center of Roseanne is going on tour, courtesy of NBCU’s multicast network, Cozi TV.
NBCU is partnering with Roseanne producer Carsey-Werner Television to take a comically oversized version of the couch on a nationwide tour of GalaxyCon fan events. The tour starts in Richmond, Va., March 15-17; heads to Raleigh, N.C. from July 25-28; San Jose, Calif., August 16-18; and finishes up in Miami with the date to be announced. GalaxyCon is a fan convention that focuses on comic books, pop culture, cosplay, fantasy and science fiction and takes place in several cities around the country.
In addition to the GalaxyCon tour, Cozi TV will also spotlight the couch during “Roseanne Couch Week” July 8-12, featuring 20 curated episodes. The multi-part marathon will begin each night at 10 p.m. ET with an animated version of the afghan-covered couch serving as host. Over four episodes each night, the couch will spill the stuffing on behind-the-scenes stories and favorite moments from the show, as well as sharing fan selfies taken at GalaxyCon.
The tour and special week of episodes come as Carsey-Werner transitions Roseanne from standard to high-definition, remastering episodes with the use of fast-evolving artificial intelligence.
Free-to-air Cozi TV airs vintage TV shows. Besides Roseanne, that includes such series as Little House on the Prairie, Third Rock from the Sun, The Nanny and many more.
Roseanne, starring Roseanne Barr, John Goodman, Sara Gilbert, Lecy Goranson and Laurie Metcalfe, was a top-rated sitcom that aired on ABC from 1988 to 1997 and then again briefly in spring 2018. That fall, it was spun off into The Conners, which is produced by and stars Gilbert as well as many of the original cast (although not Barr). That show is currently in its sixth season on ABC and headed into broadcast syndication this fall.
