Even though it feels like we just watched the Emmys – because we did, they were pushed until January after the writers and actors strikes – it’s once again time to fire up the Emmy FYC campaigns.
First off the block is Prime Video, which is hosting its immersive Prime Experience again in 2024. This year’s panels and events will center around such Prime Video series and specials as Expats, Fallout, Gen V, I’m a Virgo, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Red, White & Royal Blue, The Wheel of Time and more.
The nearly month-long activation, which focuses on voting members of the Television Academy and creative guilds, will be held at Hollywood-based event space NYA West. It will offer panels with casts and creatives as well as in-world installations, interactive exhibits and show-inspired menus.
Upon entering Prime Experience, guests will be transported to the post-apocalyptic world of Fallout, the Hong Kong night market of Expats, the New York City brownstone of Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Gen V’s Godolkin University campus and other locations. Each installation will allow voters to experience the production design, cinematography, visual effects, casting, writing, music, and hair and makeup that go into the production of these series and shows.
Guests will be served from menus themed to the featured Prime Video series, including perfectly preserved pie (Fallout), pork siu mai skewers (Expats), filet mignon on toasted sourdough paired with pinot noir (Mr. & Mrs. Smith), bing-bang burgers (I’m a Virgo), and Detroit-style pizza served with ice-cold beer in a red solo cup (Gen V). Prime Video has partnered with the Hollywood Food Coalition to donate perishable items leftover from the events.
Prime Experience opens April 24 with an “inspiration and innovation” panel event featuring showrunners from across Prime Video’s slate. The experience runs through May 20 with a lineup of 12 screenings, panels and additional events.
The eligibility period for the 76th Primetime Emmys runs from June 1, 2023 through May 31, 2024. Voting on nominations begins June 13 and runs through June 24. Voting for peer group-specific top-ten round panels runs from June 28 through July 8. Nominations will be announced July 17 and final-round voting runs from August 15-26. The 76th annual Primetime Emmys will air Sunday, September 15 on ABC.
