Fans can tour their favorite scary TV shows and movies in Universal Studios' Halloween Horror Nights, happening in Hollywood and Orlando on select nights starting Friday, September 8, through Tuesday, October 31. Universal Studios also is offering Halloween Horror Nights at its Osaka, Japan and Singapore locations.

Several themed haunted houses invite visitors into the worlds of HBO's The Last of Us, Netflix's Stranger Things 4 and Syfy and USA's Chucky franchise, as well as movies The Exorcist: Believer and Evil Dead Rise.

In The Last of Us experience, guests must evade various mushroom zombies – from runners to clickers to maybe even bloaters – while visitors to Stranger Things 4 will encounter last season's big bad himself, Vecna. And, of course, Chucky will handle scaring guests in “Ultimate Kill Count.”

Another house will allow visitors to meet the monsters of Universal Studios, weaving the Invisible Man, Dr. Jekyll, Mr. Hyde, the Phantom of the Opera and the Hunchback of Notre Dame into their own one chilling new story. “Monstruos: The Monsters of Latin America” focuses on traditional monsters from Latin American lore, while the accompanying zone, “El Terror de las Momias,” finds guests having to flee a horde of oncoming mummies. Finally, Universal turns all holidays from July 4 to Easter to Christmas into terrifying occasions of their own in “Holidayz in Hell.”

Beyond the houses are three horror zones. Besides “El Terror de las Momias,” there is also “Toyz,” where evil toys run free on a New York Street, and “Ghostz,” in which visitors are greeted with blood-soaked, chainsaw-wielding ghosts as they enter Halloween Horror Nights.

Two other TV and movie horror franchises are inviting fans into their worlds, with “Blumhouse: Behind the Screams” offering an up-close look at film props, costumes and characters from such upcoming Blumhouse movies as Five Nights at Freddy's and The Exorcist: Believer as well as fan favorites M3GAN and The Black Phone.

And “The Purge: Dangerous Waters” takes the film and TV franchise to Universal's WaterWorld venue, turning it into an all-new live show featuring action sequences, stunts, lighting and laser effects, and explosions. “‘The Purge: Dangerous Waters” celebrates an evening of anarchy without thought of punishment or fear of retribution,” according to Universal Studios.

Finally, Universal Studios transformed its park tram from run-of-the-mill transportation to “Terror Tram…The Exterminatorz.” Terror Tram puts guests on the world-renowned Universal backlot and in the middle of an insect uprising. Tram riders also will get to walk the Jupiter's Claim set from Nope where they will encounter The Tethered from Us in a crossover between two of director Jordan Peele's films.

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter also will be open during Halloween Horror Nights, offering some scary delights of its own. The Voldemort supporters known as Death Eaters will be found throughout Hogsmeade trying to get shoppers to join their cause, while guests sample Butterbeer, peruse wands at Ollivanders, and ride “Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey” and “Flight of the Hippogriff.”

Guests who don't like to be scared can still enjoy the rest of the park's attractions, including “Jurassic World—The Ride,” “Transformers: The Ride-3D,” “Revenge of the Mummy—The Ride” and “The Simpsons Ride.”

Halloween Horror Nights is open for visitors on September 8-10, 14-17, 21-24, 27-30; October 1, 4-8, 11-15, 18-22, 25-29 and 31, 2023.
