In season three of HBO's The Righteous Gemstones, the adult Gemstone kids – Jesse (Danny McBride), Judy (Edi Patterson) and Kelvin (Adam Devine) – are finally given the keys to the Gemstone kingdom, but they learn that taking over for America's Jesus-Daddy – their father, Dr. Eli Gemstone (John Goodman) – is not that simple.
“We're picking up from where Eli Gemstone left off, a man who's done this job for like thousands of years,” says Jesse to his wife, Amber (Cassidy Freeman).
The central problem with this succession plan is that the Gemstone sibs have a hard time getting along for approximately one second and an even possibly harder time acting like the adults they allegedly are.
Meanwhile, the family is having to fend off attacks from the even more religious right led by Steve Zahn (The White Lotus). And if that's not all, there's still their honor to defend on the NASCAR track.
The Righteous Gemstones is created, written and executive produced by McBride. Other executive producers are Jody Hill, David Gordon, John Carcieri, Jeff Fradley and Brandon James. Jonathan Watson co-executive produces and David Brightbill produces. Consulting producers are Kevin Barnett, Patterson and Chris Pappas.
Season three of HBO's The Righteous Gemstones premieres Sunday, June 18 at 10 p.m. and will be available to stream on Max.
