Like CBS, NBC is playing it a little safe with its fall programming announcements, picking up two dramas and one comedy, and keeping its fingers crossed that the writers' strike comes to an early conclusion rather than the drawn-out ordeal that's being predicted.

New dramas are The Irrational, starring Jesse L. Martin (Law & Order, The Flash) and Found, starring Shanola Hampton, while Jon Cryer (Two and a Half Men) stars in new comedy Extended Family, which also features Donald Faison (Scrubs) and Abigail Spencer (Mad Men).

Coming midseason are new unscripted series Deal or No Deal Island and an as-of-yet untitled spinoff of America's Got Talent, which returns to NBC this summer with its 18th season. Next spring, Tom Hanks will narrate ten-episode natural history series, The Americas, with a score by Hans Zimmer.

NBC also renewed some vets, grabbing second seasons of George Lopez' Lopez vs Lopez and Password, starring Jimmy Fallon and hosted by Keke Palmer.

The Irrational will air Monday nights at 10 p.m., after two hours of The Voice, which will enter its 24th cycle, at 8 p.m.

Extended Family will slate in on Tuesdays at 8:30 p.m. after NBC's hit reboot Night Court, which was renewed for season two in February. The Voice returns for another hour at 9 p.m., followed by another reboot, Quantum Leap, which was picked up for a second season in December.

Wednesdays remain dominated by NBC's block of “One Chicago” shows from Dick Wolf: Chicago Med, Chicago Fire and Chicago P.D. Thursdays are similarly dominated by Dick Wolf's Law & Order and Law & Order: SVU, with missing-persons drama Found scheduled to air at 10 p.m.

Friday nights are composed of game-show The Wall and Dateline, with college football scheduled for Saturday nights and the NFL's Sunday Night Football on Sunday evenings.

Joining the America's Got Talent spinoff and Deal or No Deal Island in midseason are season four of yet another Dick Wolf-helmed series – Law & Order: Organized Crime – along with La Brea, Magnum P.I., which NBC picked up after CBS let it go, hospital drama Transplant and season two of Lopez vs. Lopez.

Still waiting to hear about their fates are American Auto, Grand Crew and Young Rock.

NBC's upfront, which has been disrupted this week by the announced departure of ad-sales chief Linda Yaccarino to go run Twitter, is scheduled to take place at Radio City Music Hall on Monday.

All NBC shows stream the next day on Peacock.
