In honor of Pride Month, Max is celebrating LGBTQ+ stories throughout June, highlighting such series as The Last of Us, Hacks, Sort Of, Our Flag Means Death and more.
In addition, the month will see the debuts of several documentary projects, including The Stroll, which tells the story of transgender sex workers in New York's meat-packing district in the 1990s.
To celebrate the premiere, Max, in partnership with NewFest Pride and Rooftop, is hosting an outdoor screening of HBO Documentary Film, The Stroll at Gansevoort Plaza in the meat-packing district on June 5. The event will feature a live musical performance by a queer artist as well as film introductions by directors Kristen Lovell and Zackary Drucker, producer Matt Wolf, and subjects of The Stroll.
The partnership also includes Them x Pitchfork's Night Out Pride Celebration (sponsored by Max's Human By Orientation), a special Pride concert taking place on Saturday, June 17 at Knockdown Center in Queens, New York. The event – which celebrates the impact of queer musicians and the safe havens that queer clubs provide – features musical performances by headliner Tinashe,Lido Pimienta, Pom Pom Squad, Zebra Katz and more. Human By Orientation will pop up at Night Out, transforming Knockdown Center's Wood Jamb space into the “Max Lounge,” where attendees can engage with memorable moments from Max and Human by Orientation's content.
Also debuting on Max this month are docu-series Naked. Loud. Proud.; Rock Hudson: All That Heaven Allowed; Taylor Mac's 24-Decade History of Popular Music and The Nate and Jeremiah Home Project, starring designers and queer couple Nate Berkus and Jeremiah Brent.
To highlight all of this, Max is refreshing its LGBTQ+ spotlight page with an essential Pride Month watchlist, promoting such content as Trixie Motel, I Am Jazz and 90 Day Fiancé: Love In Paradise. And the platform is featuring “Home Werk,” curated episodes of House Hunters that highlight same-sex couples as they search for their dream home.
It's also showcasing more than 30 LGBTQ+ organizations throughout the month by communicating their missions and driving to their platforms via Max's and Human by Orientation's Instagram Stories.
