In August 2021, the long-held tradition of sorority rush at the University of Alabama went viral on TikTok under the hashtag #BamaRush, becoming a cultural phenomenon and driving more young women than ever to apply to and attend the school in Tuscaloosa.

But what TikTok didn't tell them is what rush is really all about. In Max original documentary, Bama Rush, filmmaker Rachel Fleit (Introducing Selma Blair) followed four young women as they went through the recruitment process at the university in fall 2022. What she found was that rush is far more than just parties, fashion and schmoozing.
