Ahead of the theatrical premiere of Disney's new movie, The Marvels on Friday, Marvel collaborated with software developer Autodesk to throw a moving image of the movie's cat, Goose, onto the brand-new Las Vegas Sphere.
The Sphere's exterior is covered in a 580,000 square foot 16K LED display, which is more than enough to showcase a tabby who transforms into a tentacle-covered alien.
The promo was created for the partners by VFX studio The Mill using Autodesk's Maya 3D software for designing, lighting, rigging and animating the character. Goose was rendered using Autodesk's Arnold software.
The Mill has been working with the Sphere since it launched in late September, producing the venue's Elvis-centric opening in collaboration with Marco Branbilla Studio as well as U2:UV Achtung Baby Live at Sphere and the Darren Aronofsky-helmed movie Postcard from Earth.
The Marvel promo will run through November 13, leading into the kickoff of Autodesk University – the software developer's annual design and content creation customer conference – which is taking place in Las Vegas November 13-15.
