Imaginary Forces brought several key characters – including Greta, Sweettooth Scourge; Kellan the Fae-Blooded and the Goose Mother; Ruby, Daring Tracker; and Syr Ginger, The Meal Ender (so named for obvious reasons) – to life for Wizards of the Coast's latest expansion of card game Magic the Gathering—Wilds of Eldraine.
Greta, Sweettooth Scourge
Kellan the Fae-Blooded and The Goose Mother
Ruby, Daring Tracker
Syr Ginger, The Meal Ender
The game's characters are all twists on classic fairy tale personas, such as Hansel and Gretel, Jack and the Beanstalk, Little Red Riding Hood and the Gingerbread Man.
Imaginary Forces illustrated each mini-story with 3D animations, like an elaborate children's pop-up picture book.
“Wilds of Eldraine gave us such a rich universe full of great characters and stories to play with,” said Imaginary Forces Creative Diretor Tosh Kodama. “You really have to immerse yourself into the world of the game. Understanding the nuances and tone, the baddass-ness of Greta or Syr Ginger, is something we really paid attention to. The right expression on their face or the swagger in their pose brings the characters to life in a believable way. Finding that moment or movement where they come to life is such a magical moment of discovery.”
Magic the Gathering: Wilds of Eldraine releases Friday, September 8.
