Just in time for San Diego Comic-Con, Hulu is launching a home for all of its popular adult animation and anime titles – Animayhem.
The hub will be where fans can find such popular series as American Dad, Archer, Bob's Burgers, Family Guy, Futurama, King of the Hill, Solar Opposites, The Great North and more. Coming soon to the platform should be Dan Harmon's long-awaited animated show, Krapopolis, which is due to debut on Fox in September.
Hulu currently offers 46 adult animated series – 174 seasons and 2,600 episodes. For anime, Hulu has 17 anime films and 272 anime series, totaling 435 seasons and 18,400 episodes.
At launch, Hulu rolled out the above spot, branding the Disney-owned streaming service as “your animation destination” and sending its branded green dot through a series of scenes from favorite animated shows.
Hulu will be introducing Animayhem at San Diego Comic-Con with an immersive experience dubbed “Hulu Animayhem: Into the Second Dimension.” Hulu also is going to fans off-channel, on social platforms, podcasts, gaming, streaming music and out of home, with SDCC serving as the start of that outreach, Barrie Gruner, Hulu's executive vice president of marketing and publicity, told Variety, which first reported this story.
Gruner credited Disney Entertainment Television Marketing Pead Shannon Ryan and Disney Direct-to-Consumer President Joe Earley for initiating the idea and supporting it through launch.
