Now that Geralt of Rivia, also known as The Witcher, has a found family of his own, he also has found real fear in season three of Netflix's fantasy series based on the best-selling books by Andrzej Sapkowski.
But ever the monster hunter, Geralt – Henry Cavill, in his last season playing this role before handing it off to Liam Hemsworth – drinks his signature potion and his eyes turn black as he walks into a dark place to defeat the monsters within.
Meanwhile, his charge, Ciri of Cintra (Freya Allen) has gone off with his love, Yennefer of Vengerberg (Anya Chalotra) for additional magical training at the protected fortress of Aretuza. However, once they arrive they discover that the fortress is not safe but a “battlefield of political corruption, dark magic and treachery,” according to Netflix.
Season three also stars Joey Batey, Mimi Ndiweni, Eamon Farren, MyAnna Buring, Wilson Mbomio and Tom Canton.
The Witcher was created by Lauren Schmidt Hissrich as a television adaption of Sapkowski's novels. The franchise recently debuted four-part prequel series The Witcher: Blood Origin, led by Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh.
The Witcher premieres this summer in two parts, with part one dropping on Thursday, June 29 and part two on Thursday, July 27.
