Nexstar-owned Antenna TV is firing up a few episodes of ‘80s-favorite sitcom Three's Company over Labor Day weekend.
The above spot makes the marathon Antenna's own with some groovy motion graphics that feature a very ‘70s-themed avocado, burnt orange and brown palette to capture the mood.
The show starred the late John Ritter as a bachelor, Jack Tripper, who platonically shared a Santa Monica apartment with a buxom blonde, Chrissy Snow, (Suzanne Somers) and a plucky brunette, Janet Wood (Joyce DeWitt). The unorthodox living situation, which required Jack to pretend he was homosexual in order for the landlord, Stanley Roper (Norman Fell) to allow it, was a bit scandalous for its day.
The show was based on the British sitcom, Man About the House and ran on ABC from 1977-84. Somers, who became hugely famous in the role, left the show in 1980 to be replaced by Jenilee Harrison as Chrissy's cousin, Cindy, and then by Priscilla Barnes as Teri Alden. It spun off two other short-lived series – The Ropers starring Fell and Audra Lindley as Stanley and Helen Roper; and Three's A Crowd, starring Ritter and Mary Cadorette as Jack's girlfriend, Vicki. Three's A Crowd only aired for one season, while The Ropers ran from March 1979 to May 1980.
Coming up, Antenna TV plans a “Witch-O-Ween” marathon of Bewitched for Halloween on October 31; Thanksgiving-themed episodes of various shows from across Antenna TV's lineup for Thanksgiving on November 23; and a “Black and White Friday” marathon for Black Friday on November 24.
Nexstar-owned Antenna TV is a diginet that airs on TV station's alternative channels. The network can be found over the air and on cable systems across the country.
