Fox Entertainment teamed up with New York City-based creative production studio Versus to take fans of costumed singing competition The Masked Singer on a retro ride through a brightly colored pinball machine.
The spot draws inspiration from Sesame Street’s “Pinball Number Count” song, which first appeared on the show in 1976 and taught kids to count to 12. It also makes fun use of sounds, from the bleeps and bells of a traditional pinball machine to clips of judges saying lines from the show.
"Collaborating with Fox on The Masked Singer has been a fun and fast creative journey,” said Tony Kadillak, Versus’ executive producer of its entertainment division, in a statement. “For Season 12, we wanted to capture the magic of nostalgia while keeping the energy high. This spot combines everything we love about the show—fun, surprises, and that larger-than-life feeling."
Fans of the show will find tons of hidden easter eggs teasing what’s to come and offering them a sneak peek into season 12.
The Masked Singer’s 12th season debuted Wednesday, September 25 on Fox. It airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT and features judges Ken Jeong, Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg and Robin Thicke alongside British pop star Rita Ora, who joined this season. Nick Cannon hosts.
