Fans have waited nearly three years for show to return.

Almost three years after it originally premiered, Apple TV +’s cult hit, Severance, returns for season two on January 17. Apple dropped the first official trailer on December 7.

Severance takes place inside a mysterious company, Lumon, that severs the memories of its employees' inner work selves -- or "innies" -- from their outie real-life selves, known as "outies." At the end of season one, all four of Lumon’s innies – Mark (Adam Scott), Helly (Britt Lower), Dylan (Zach Cherry) and Irving (John Turturro) – learned something shocking when their innies' memories were revealed to their outies due to the four’s working together to launch the “overtime contingency protocol." Season two will deal with the ramifications of those realizations.

Fans flocked to the show’s mystery-box style of storytelling as well as its austere blue-and-white aesthetic.

Severance is created by Dan Erickson and executive produced by Ben Stiller. Besides Scott, Lower, Cherry and Turturro, it also stars Patricia Arquette, Christopher Walken, Tramell Tillman, Jen Tullock, Michael Chernus and Dichen Lachman. New cast members joining in season two include Gwendoline Christie, Alia Shawkat, Bob Balaban, Merrit Wever, Robby Benson, Stefano Caranante, John Noble and Ólafur Darri Ólafsson. Studio Fifth Season produces the series for Apple TV Plus.
