In Netflix’s spy thriller Black Dove, Helen (Keira Knightley) is balancing her dangerous double life – including being the wife of England’s Prime Minister – but keeping her very public identity separate from her lethal private one is getting increasingly difficult. 

In the new trailer for season two, coming November 5, Helen continues to serve as a Black Doves asset even while her husband, Wallace (Andrew Buchan), prepares to become prime minister. 

“She’s literally the spy at the heart of government, so she’s kind of reached the pinnacle of where she can get to,” writer, creator, and executive producer Joe Barton told Netflix’s Tudum. “But at the same time as that happens, her handler, Reed (Sarah Lancashire), goes missing. So Helen’s in this very precarious situation, suddenly, and without her professional ally.”

Though they’re on different paths, best friends Helen and Sam (Ben Whishaw), once a high-end assassin, find their way back to each other after the bloody end of season one. 

Sam has found himself pulled back into the criminal world after he protected Helen by killing London crime boss Alex Clark (Tracey Ullman) and her son, Trent (Angus Cooper).

As the trailer continues, it morphs from telling a story about a political thriller into a bang-up spy drama, with plenty of action, especially as Helen and Black Doves agent Laila (Ambika Mod) exit an elevator while shooting everyone in their path.

Familiar faces return for the second season, including duo Eleanor (Gabrielle Creevy) and Williams (Ella Lily Hyland), and Sam’s mentor Lenny (Kathryn Hunter).

Season two also sees new additions to the cast including Mod, Black Doves executive Mr. Conteh (Babou Ceesay), mysterious emissary Patrick (Sam Riley) and US defense envoy Cecile Mason (Neve Campbell).
