Taking inspiration from spy movies, like Tom Cruise’s Mission Impossible franchise, chef Gordon Ramsay is going undercover – with the help of a secret surveillance center and a whistleblower on the inside – to help struggling restaurants clean up their acts.
Fox Entertainment teamed up with New York City-based Versus to produce the campaign for Gordon Ramsay’s Secret Service, which premieres Wednesday, May 21 on Fox.
Versus shot the campaign over two days in studio and on location in Washington, D.C. The final promo features rats, cockroaches, an unsuspecting restaurant owner, and a sidekick bulldog to round out the cast of characters. Heads-up displays highlight food safety violations and reinforce the show’s themes.
“No two shoots are the same, but this one was special: not only did we have talent in Gordon who was truly invested in capturing the best performance (and endured our ‘extras’ for multiple takes), we also had a fun and inspired concept from our partners at Fox that we had an opportunity to bring to life. The final spot represents the contributions of both our teams, which resulted in a beautiful and entertaining finished spot,” said Versus Executive Director Tony Kadillak.
In addition to producing the shoot, Versus contributed editorial, 2D and 3D animation, and VFX.
