Italian artist gives audiences a quick recap of the events that transpired in 'Gladiator.'

Ridley Scott returned to Italian artist and filmmaker Gianluigi Toccafondo to create the opening credits for Gladiator II.

Painting in his unique style, Toccafondo recapped the story of 2000’s Gladiator, starring Russell Crowe and Joaquin Phoenix, in a two-minute sequence, reminding audiences of what happened in ancient Rome the last time they checked in.

Toccafondo had worked with Scott before, creating the filmmaker’s animated logo for Scott Free Productions.

Toccafondo also produced the opening title sequence for Scott’s 2010 movie, Robin Hood, which also starred Crowe
