Nick Sokoloff is the latest addition to New York City-based Sibling Rivalry Films' roster of directors, the company said Wednesday.
Sokoloff got his start cutting trailers for such studios as Disney, Paramount and Universal. He then moved into editing action sports docuseries for such brands as Red Bull and the World Surf League. From there, he began to take on director roles. His film, Osmosis, follows security guards who work at The Metropolitan Museum of Art and other New York City museums by day while they dedicate themselves to their own art by night.
"My career to date has been rooted in working with non-actors and telling their authentic stories within the documentary genre,” says Sokoloff in a statement. “At Sibling Films, I'm keen to further my directorial voice.”
“Nick brings the instinctive understanding that a compelling story can be told successfully at multiple lengths,” says Darren Foldes, partner and managing director at Sibling Rivalry Films, in a statement. “Having already worked on one project with Nick, it has become apparent that he possesses the rare ability to refrain from saying cut until he's in the edit bay, where he invariably unearths gold. Through his special brand of directorial alchemy, and an editing background that has made him clear in achieving his vision, Nick transmutes what he finds into magnetic and precise narratives.”
